Journey to the Holy Land Curious about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I ventured to Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, and Jordon in 1998 to see the life of people in the Holy Land.
Coming from a Soviet émigré family whose exit out of the Soviet Union was made possible by a visa for Israel, I was deeply troubled by the reality of Palestinians living in misery and the Israelis aiming for liberty from anti-Semitism. These email essays describe my internal struggle to see how my own life was related to the occupation, terrorism and plight of all those living on the small space of land we deem to be so dear, the Holy Land.
