Books are meant to be circulated. I love it when friends bequeath books to me. They books are even more special to me because I can discuss them with the people who gave them to me. Let's promote literacy and reduce our emotional weights by spreading our collections of books!

Oh, Susan, how I relate! But I am more than a francophone; I not only minored in French Literature and lived in French-speaking Europe for nearly five years, but I married a beautiful French girl, so am nearly half French. I finally read a good part of the book. Yes, it wasn't easy, but after 57 years of devoted marriage, I've had more impetus than the usual nostalgia of the rest of us who have been drawn to this unexplainable French charm. But despite my radical commitment, I, too, finally released the then worn book to the local library, yet find myself still haunted and searching the Internet. Incredible, n'est-ce pas?

(I still have not succumbed to Proust since the unbearable torture in graduate school.)
